Meet Our Trainer: Sarah

Have you gotten to meet Sarah yet? One of the newer members of the DMSfit team, Sarah McMahan is a NASM certified personal trainer and a Fitness competitor. She has a strong background in Gymnastics, having been a Gymnast for over 14 years. We asked her to answer a few questions to get a better sense for what it’s like to train with her!

Why did you want to join the team at DMSfit?
I wanted to join DMS because I didn’t want to work for just any gym, I wanted to work at a gym where the trainers cared about their clients and their needs.

How would you describe your approach to training and fitness?
When it comes to my style of training it all depends on the client and the class I am teaching. My goal is to show individuals what they are truly capable of. To be able to do an exercise that they thought they could never do. Everyone needs a little push now and then through their workouts and I’m there to help give you that extra push and to get you out of your comfort zone. But, I always make sure my workouts are fun and creative!

What is some advice you have for someone looking to find a trainer?
When you are looking for a training you want to make sure that you are looking for someone that truly cares about the fitness industry and “Preaches what they Teach.” Not everyone can be YOUR trainer. You have to find some sort of connection and make sure you can work with them. You need to look for someone who is knowledgeable not just about training but also nutrition/nutrition guidelines. Nutrition is a key factor when it comes to you physique and your goals.

Where can we find you on the weekend?
You would usually find me in a gym on the weekends (of course!) Or relaxing with family or friends. (Ed. Note: you can also find Sarah teaching Saturday morning Bootcamps at the Montrose studio)
